My Favorite Things

I constantly get questions asking about the healthy living products and services I recommend to my patients/clients, family, and friends as well as what products and services that my household uses. I have listed them below and will continue to add to and update this area as my knowledge and preferences evolve.

Homeopathy kits

Every family should have a homeopathy kit on hand. I personally love our kit from Washington Homeopathy. They currently have a 30c kit and 200c kit. Another great kit is the Helios Basic Kit. Grab one or more of these for your medicine cabinet!

Vitamin C

These are the two products that I recommend for use when doing high dose Vitamin C during illness. I have chosen these products based on Dr. Suzanne Humphries recommendation and her deep study into high dose Vitamin C. Plus our family loves them. Please consult with me if you plan to use high dose Vitamin C.

Squatty Potty

In all my years of being a chiropractor, the one thing I’ve noticed is a problem for so many people is constipation. Not only do I highly recommend that every household have a Squatty Potty, but the travel version was one of the first items we put in our RV.

Iron Supplement

While I’m a big proponent of getting your vitamins and minerals from food, there are instances where supplementation may be beneficial for a short period of time. MegaFood Blood Builder is my all time favorite WHOLE FOOD based iron supplement. I personally used this supplement for anemia and it’s the one iron supplement that did not cause constipation.

Menstrual cups

Menstrual products such as bulky pads and tampons are filled with nasty chemicals that can disrupt our hormones and our sensitive female areas. It wasn’t until I turned to a menstrual cup that my heavy cycles became lighter and more manageable. There are many different brands on the market, but I personally loved the Lunette.

Safety razors & blades

Disposable razors are made of plastic. They create more trash, and take a long time to break down. Not to mention, the moisturizing strips contain harmful chemicals that you shouldn’t be putting on your body. Safety razors give a smoother shave and are better for the environment and your pocket book! I love my Zomchi.

Toothpaste

Fluoride isn’t good for your teeth. It’s not…that’s a myth. Fluoride can actually lead to further teeth damage as well as neurologic and endocrine issues. Our household has had our share of cavities, and these two products are what have turned that around for us. If you purchase the MI Paste, make sure it is NOT MI Paste Plus. Contact me if you’d like to know exactly how we use the MI Paste.

Pest control

Is your yard overrun by ant hills? Or do you get the occasional line of ants roaming your pantry or bathroom? Pest control companies just use harmful insecticides to control the problem, so don't be quick to pick up the phone. Instead, try Terro ant bait and/or diatomaceous earth. Terro is simply made of borax, sugar, and water and does a fantastic job in the house. Diatomaceous earth when used outdoors can dry up ants and their ant hills. We’re always stocked up with both.

Cleaning products

Most cleaning products have harsh chemicals that can affect your lungs, your hormones, and can cause skin reactions. This is one area that took me a long time to find something I love. Both Force of Nature and Branch Basics have satisfied me. They clean great and are free from those harmful ingredients that affect your health in a negative way.

Laundry detergent

Laundry detergents have chemicals and fragrances that can cause a whole host of health issues. Your clothes are against your body 24/7 and your skin will absorb these chemicals and send them directly into the bloodstream. My favorite detergent is Rockin’ Green which I started using when my last child was in cloth diapers. Their Dirty Diaper formula is also great for cloth menstrual pads.

Kids multivitamin/mineral

I'm a big proponent of getting the vitamins and minerals you need from food sources. But we know how picky kids can be. Sometimes it's necessary to supplement for a short period of time. This is our household's favorite liquid ALL-IN-ONE supplement that comes from whole foods and plant-based sources. It contains vitamins, minerals, omegas, probiotics, antioxidants, amino acids, digestive enzymes, and more.
